soft sculpture: broken chair fragments, old clothing, wire, nails, misc. objects in disrepair

observation of accumulating piles in my own life and lives of others. that seemingly universal chair in the homes of many that is designated to hold disorganized clutter. there is something so alive, telling and human about those chairs. more specifically this piece draws on the hurdles and recovery process from hoarding behaviours developed from complex mental illness. this was displayed as an interactive piece, some people were afraid to sit in it. others laughed while trying to contort their bodies to make their way comfortably inside the mouth. using compulsively collected items as material in construction was a way to make the work an active part of the recovery process - and in waste prevention. this work has also been displayed with past clothing worn past wearability filling the mouth.
